GRADUATING SENIORS
Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
As you begin your next chapter of life, the financial aid team would like to equip you with valuable information on the loan repayment process. Over the course of the spring semester, we will be hosting several Loan Repayment Workshops for any graduating seniors. These workshops aim to help you create a plan of action regarding loan repayment.
Topics covered will include budgeting, a summary of loan terminology, loan repayment strategies, loan forgiveness programs, and a mention of new loan repayment guidelines due to COVID-19. At the end of the workshop, we will answer questions from participants.
Look into your student loan record and access the information to understand your federal loan repayment options. On this site you will be able to find:
- Your total balance
- The name and contact information of your loan servicer
- Interest rates
If you are about to graduate or leave college there steps you must take to begin the process of loan repayment. You can visit the student aid site to learn more about the steps you can take.
If you do any of the following:
- Graduate
- Stop attending
- Drop below half time enrollment
You will enter into a grace period. For federal loans, this grace period is generally six (6) months. If you have a private loan or a loan through the University of Pittsburgh, grace period terms can vary and you should contact your loan servicer for specific details.
